My troop went to Philmont in the summer of 2002. We did Itenary 11. I did a lot of research to help us prepare. It helped a lot. The best advice can give you is to read Ranger Jason A. Cotting's equipment description. Also, visit Selden's List of Philmont Web Pages to read the logs of people who have recently taken the trek you are taking.
